Mackinac Island, MI

Overview:

Discover why for centuries visitors have found this national landmark to be the ideal vacation spot. No cars. No chain hotels. Just world-famous Mackinac Island Fudge, historic Fort Mackinac, unique shopping, and diverse dining. Explore the scenic island by horse-drawn carriage, by bike, or by stepping out for a stroll.

On route to and from Mackinac Island, we will spend the first night in Frankenmuth, MI. Enjoy free time at the Frankenmuth’s River Place Shops where there is an assortment of shops featuring apparel, attractions, experiences, gifts, specialty treats, drinks and more. Don’t forget to check out the Bavarian Inn Glockenspiel Tower, which houses a magnificent 35-bell carillon, a beautiful figurine movement and an illuminated clock, all imported from Germany! The Glockenspiel can be heard for miles around Frankenmuth with lively German and American tunes and hymns. 12pm,3 p.m., 6 p.m., and 9 p.m. are the magical moments when the Glockenspiel comes alive. 1 night lodging and 1 Dinner at local restaurant included.

On the second day enjoy a 15-30 minute ferry ride to Mackinac Island (included). Upon arriving on the island, feel free to begin enjoying the island, as the luggage will be transported directly to the resort for us, or use the included Carriage rides to and from the hotel to the ferry/downtown. This 3.8-square-mile island is famous for its lack of cars. You’ll either get around by foot, bicycle or even a horse.

Because this location can be tailored to what a family or individual wants out of it, you have plenty of options to create your own day trip adventure or join the group at the Optional Add-Ons listed below. Explore state park woods, hear about the island’s role in past wars, try delicious fudge, shop and more.

On route back to WV, we will spend the last night in Detroit, MI. Dinner is included in the hometown of Henry Ford at a one-of-a-kind 1920’s service station-inspired dining room featuring classic Ford vehicles and memorabilia. They pay tribute to America’s most iconic automobile brand by offering a truly historic dining experience—right down to nostalgic auto shop uniforms. Before departing on the last day, we will visit the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation. A massive, 12-acre indoor-outdoor history complex that Houses iconic artifacts like the Rosa Parks bus, Kennedy’s limousine, the Wright Brothers' bicycle shop, and numerous historic automobiles and machinery. We will also visit Greenfield Village, a 200-acre outdoor living history museum established by Henry Ford in 1929 to showcase 300 years of American life. All Access Experience Ticket is included.
